VAT will be applied on tuition fees of international schools

Tuition fees at international schools will be subject to the value-added tax, Tax Authority chief Abdel Moniem Matar told Al Mal. “Whoever can pay for international schools can bear the tax,” he explained. Matar also said that domestic public and private schools will be exempt from VAT. On another note, the exemption of banking services from the VAT is yet to be resolved. An official at the ministry of finance told Al Mal that non-banking services as well as specialized banks should register at the sales tax department as these services would be subject to the VAT.
